Refund Policy

Version 1.0 · effective 16 September 2026

This Refund Policy is part of the Terms of Service and applies to paid subscriptions to the assistant services marketed as Smith. Terms defined in the Terms of Service have the same meaning here. The Modsmith mod manager is free and has nothing to refund.

Subscriptions are sold through our payment partner as merchant of record. Refunds are issued by the partner; we instruct the partner to issue every refund this policy provides, and the partner’s own terms apply to the transaction alongside it.

1. Fourteen days on your first payment

You may request a full refund of the first payment you ever make for a Smith subscription within 14 days of the transaction date, for any reason or none. The refund goes back to the original payment method, without a fee from us. After the refund the paid features stop and the subscription is cancelled.

This applies to the first payment of a monthly or a yearly plan alike. The 14 days are counted from the transaction date shown on your receipt. Where you used a substantial part of the plan’s allowance before asking, we may deduct a proportionate amount for the service already provided, as consumer law allows; a refund is never refused only because you used the Services during the 14 days.

2. Renewals and later payments

Renewal payments, and payments for a subscription that was previously cancelled and started again, are not covered by section 1. We will refund such a payment where the law of your country requires it, and otherwise at our discretion, for example when a renewal was charged shortly after you tried to cancel or when the Services were unavailable for a substantial part of the period. Ask us; a reasonable request gets a reasonable answer.

To avoid an unwanted renewal, cancel before the end of the current period. Cancelling stops the next payment and keeps your access until the period you paid for ends. Before a yearly renewal you receive a reminder by email.

3. Plan changes

A change of plan takes effect at the next renewal, unless the checkout offers an immediate change and shows the difference for the rest of the current period before you confirm. A change of plan is not a refund event.

4. How to request a refund

Email [email protected] from the address on your Account with the transaction identifier from your receipt, or ask through the payment partner’s customer portal linked in your receipt. Refunds are usually issued within a few business days; your bank or card issuer may take longer to show it.

5. What we may refuse

We may decline to instruct a refund, or limit future purchases, where the request falls outside section 1 and we reasonably believe it is abusive: repeated subscribe-and-refund cycles, a refund request made after a payment dispute has been opened for the same payment, use in breach of the Terms of Service, or fraud.

6. Payment disputes

If you open a chargeback or payment dispute instead of asking us, we may suspend the Account until the dispute is resolved, and if the card issuer or the payment partner resolves it in our favour we may refuse future purchases. Asking us first is faster for you and for us.

7. Discontinuation by us

If we permanently discontinue the paid Services as a whole, end the agreement for convenience, or materially reduce what your plan provides and you cancel before the change takes effect, you receive a refund of the unused portion of any period you have already paid for, calculated pro rata, as the Terms of Service provide.

8. Your legal rights

Nothing in this policy limits rights that the law of your country gives you, including any statutory withdrawal period for consumers. Where the payment partner’s own refund terms are more generous than this policy, the more generous terms apply.

9. Changes

We may change this policy for future purchases at any time by publishing the new version on the Website. The version in force at the time of a payment applies to that payment.
